My Musical Influence
History of Music
Musical biography
Music
has affected my life in many ways that I can’t imagine. I suppose that it all started when I first
entered into middle school. For some
reason, I wasn’t too big into music before then, but when my brothers
introduced me to a band named 311, I started to get into them. I would listen to them a lot everyday. That was the spark for my musical interest.
During
the span of a couple of years, I started to do some study by myself about
music, listening to band of all ages and genre of rock. Then I came across Led Zeppelin. When I listened to some songs by that band, I
was amazed by the guitar work of their guitarist Jimmy Page. After thinking about his style of playing for
a long time, I decided that I wanted to play the electric guitar. By the time I got into high school, I was
able to get one, a Fender Stratocaster.
While
I was learning how to play, I came across another guitarist: Stevie Ray Vaughan. His style of playing immediately caught hold
on me, and since that day, he is my main influence of the guitar and the way I
play. In just a year and a half after I
got my guitar, I was able to get into the jazz band at my high school. I haven’t put down my guitar ever since.
Thanks
to these experiences, I was able to get into music and be the way that I am
today. My main tastes are mainly rock
and jazz music, but I also like to pay close attention to movie and video game
music when I watch/play them.
